DayofPal—The Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office reported that two Palestinian women Suheir Zaqaqiq and FEdaa Assaf have been diagnosed with cancer, following a deliberate medical neglect at Damon Prison.
In a statement on Thursday, the office said 45-year-old Suheir Hassan Zaqaqiq from the town of Beit Ummar in Hebron, has been held under administrative detention since November 18, 2025. Her detention has been renewed for a third time for an additional four months.
According to the statement, she suffers from fibroid tumors and benign masses and had been awaiting surgery before her arrest but has since been denied the necessary treatment and medical follow-up.
The office also said 49-year-old Fedaa Suhail Assaf from the town of Kafr Laqif in Qalqilya has been detained by the Israeli occupation since February 24, 2025, and is serving a 22-month prison sentence.
It said she suffers from leukemia, and recent medical tests showed a significant deterioration in her condition requiring urgent specialized care, but she has reportedly been provided only with painkillers.
The office said there are currently 99 Palestinian women held in Israeli prisons, including three pregnant detainees, adding that they face ongoing violations, including medical neglect, torture, solitary confinement, repeated searches, and deprivation of basic rights.
