DaysofPal- The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has condemned the burning of a mosque by Israeli settlers in the village of Jiljilya, north of Ramallah, saying that it is part of a broader pattern of organized terrorism targeting the Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Hamas said the arson attack, alongside ongoing assaults against Palestinian citizens and their property across the occupied West Bank, represents a dangerous escalation. The movement stated that the attack reflects the level of extremism and hatred driving the actions of settler groups.
Hamas stressed that such assaults would only be met with greater steadfastness and resistance from the Palestinian people and their resistance forces. It linked the mosque burning to the continued incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as repeated attacks targeting Palestinian villages and civilian property throughout the West Bank.
The movement asserted that these violations form part of broader Israeli plans aimed at targeting Palestinians, their land, and their religious sanctities simultaneously. It argued that policies of settlement expansion, annexation, and displacement would ultimately fail in the face of Palestinians’ commitment to their rights and their determination to remain on their land.
Hamas further emphasized that resistance in the West Bank would continue confronting attacks carried out by Israeli forces and settlers and would continue pursuing crimes committed against Palestinians.
The movement added that the repression and intimidation measures employed by the Israeli authorities would not succeed in breaking the will of the Palestinian people or forcing them from their land. Instead, it said, such actions would strengthen Palestinians’ resolve to defend their national rights and protect their holy sites.
Hamas also called on Palestinians across all governorates of the West Bank to intensify various forms of resistance, confront settler attacks, and strengthen local popular protection committees in targeted villages and towns.
In addition, the movement urged the international community and people around the world to assume their responsibilities regarding the situation in the Palestinian territories, calling for effective measures to halt settler attacks and hold Israeli leaders accountable for ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
