Hamas: Israel Removes “Yellow Line” in Gaza in Blatant Violation of Ceasefire Agreement

DaysofPal- The Palestinian movement Hamas said on Tuesday that it, alongside other Palestinian factions, had demonstrated flexibility and a positive approach toward proposals presented by mediators during recent meetings in Cairo concerning the implementation of a plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip and manage the post-war phase.

Speaking to the media, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that consultations involving mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey resulted in broadly acceptable approaches among the parties participating in the talks.

Qassem called on the mediators and guarantor states to exert pressure on Israel to halt repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement that entered into force last October and to adhere to the terms of the deal.

He said that any political plan aimed at ending the war requires completing the remaining provisions of the first phase of the agreement, stopping ongoing violations, and addressing proposals for the second phase in a way that preserves the ceasefire process and prevents renewed escalation.

According to Qassem, Hamas estimates that Israeli violations of the ceasefire have resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,000 Palestinians since the truce took effect.

He added that responsibility now rests with Israel, as well as the Gaza Peace Council and its executive director, Nikolay Mladenov, to move forward with the implementation of the understandings reached through mediation efforts.

Last month, Mladenov presented a United Nations-backed roadmap consisting of 15 points aimed at implementing a comprehensive agreement to end the war. The proposal reportedly addresses a range of political and security issues related to Gaza’s future governance and stability.

Hamas, however, has criticized positions taken by the Gaza Peace Council’s executive director, accusing him of contributing to Israeli escalation and urging him to adhere strictly to the ceasefire framework without introducing new conditions or complications.

The U.S.-backed plan currently under discussion includes provisions related to post-war governance in Gaza and the establishment of an international stabilization force. Palestinian resistance factions have repeatedly rejected proposals requiring them to disarm before Israeli occupation forces fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
