DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement on Thursday called on the United Nations to place Israeli occupation on its blacklist of parties committing violations against children, citing killing, torture, displacement, and denial of basic rights affecting Palestinian minors by Israeli occupation forces.
In a statement issued to local media on the occasion of the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, observed annually on June 4, the Movement urged immediate action to halt the ongoing Israeli abuses against children across the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jerusalem, and other Palestinian areas.
Hamas said the annual observance provides an opportunity to highlight the suffering of Palestinian children and called on the international community and UN institutions to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities.
According to the statement, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels due to the ongoing war, which has lasted more than two years.
The Movement said that more than 21,000 children had been killed during that period.
It added that the casualties include approximately 19,000 school students, over 450 infants, and more than 1,000 children under the age of one.
More than 5,000 children under five years old were also among those killed, it said.
Hamas further reported that over 200 children have died due to hunger or extreme cold in displacement camps, while more than 44,000 have been injured.
It also stated that around 58,000 children have lost one or both parents during the Israeli genocide.
In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the group said 237 children have been killed and more than 1,655 minors detained.
It also noted that approximately 12,000 children have been forcibly displaced in the northern West Bank, amid ongoing military operations and settler attacks.
The statement argued that these figures exceed those recorded in multiple global conflicts over the past four years combined, describing the situation as a violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.
Hamas called on international human rights organizations to take urgent steps to stop the Israeli violations and to ensure the provision of humanitarian aid, as well as medical, educational, psychological, and social support for affected children.
Hamas stressed that international observance of the day should be accompanied by concrete actions to protect Palestinian children and hold those responsible accountable.
