The Jerusalem Governorate documented the killing of a Palestinian child by Israeli occupation forces, the injury of 49 civilians, and the arrest of 138 people in Jerusalem during April.
The Governorate also reported that 4,112 settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the same month.
In its monthly report on violations for April, the Governorate stated that the child, Muhammad Murad Rayan (17), from the town of Beit Duqqu northwest of Jerusalem, was killed by occupation gunfire, after which his body was detained.
The Governorate said the occupation continued its measures aimed at imposing further restrictions on Jerusalem and its residents, noting that the assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque topped the violations, alongside widespread raids and attempts to impose new realities on the ground.
Injuries
A total of 49 civilians were injured, ranging from live and rubber bullet wounds, beatings, tear gas exposure, and injuries caused by pepper spray used by settlers.
The injuries were concentrated around the separation wall, Qalandia checkpoint, and the towns of Al-Ram and Abu Dis, as well as towns northwest of Jerusalem, including Beit Duqqu, Beit Anan, and Qatanna.
Nine of the injuries were recorded among workers and young men while attempting to cross the wall or staying near it to reach their workplaces in Jerusalem and inside the occupied territories.
Arrests
The report documented 138 arrests carried out by occupation forces, including nine women and one child, as part of a systematic campaign targeting various areas of occupied Jerusalem.
The arrests were accompanied by widespread home raids, field detentions at military checkpoints and roads, and the use of excessive force, beatings, intimidation, and humiliation.
The arrests were distributed across multiple areas, most notably the Qalandia and Shuafat refugee camps, and the towns of Al-Ram, Anata, Silwan, Issawiya, Kufr Aqab, Beit Duqqu, Al-Eizariya, and Abu Dis, as well as neighborhoods such as Wadi al-Joz, Bab al-Amud, and the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
House arrest and sentences
The Governorate recorded 20 rulings and decisions issued by occupation courts during April, including 13 administrative detention orders. Prison sentences and financial fines were also issued.
The occupation authorities continued their policy of forced house arrest against Jerusalemites, particularly targeting youth and journalists, as a punitive measure instead of direct detention.
Two house arrest decisions were documented during the month, accompanied by strict conditions including temporary banishment and restrictions on phone and social media use.
Al-Aqsa Mosque incursions
April witnessed a systematic escalation in violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, including a complete closure for 41 days under the pretext of a state of emergency.
A total of 4,112 settlers stormed the mosque, along with 1,216 others entering under the guise of “tourism,” amid growing incitement from “Temple Mount” groups calling for increased incursions and the introduction of ritual offerings.
Exclusion orders
The Governorate recorded 95 exclusion orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, noting that the actual number may be higher due to strict restrictions and threats against those expelled, including renewed orders if they speak to the media, with some notices delivered via WhatsApp messages.
Settler attacks
Settlers carried out 35 attacks, including four physical assaults. These included gunfire, arson, road blockades, harassment of shepherds, home invasions, property vandalism, and attacks on churches, all under direct protection from occupation forces.
Settlement expansion
Seven settlement plans were recorded in April 2026 aimed at strengthening control over Jerusalem through construction and land seizure.
Three plans included the construction of 965 settlement units over 172 dunums. Three additional plans were approved for 412 housing units and a religious school over 52.4 dunums, while one tender was issued for 263 settlement units.
Demolitions and forced displacement
The Governorate documented 33 demolition and land-leveling operations, including 17 forced self-demolitions, 13 demolitions carried out by occupation authorities, and three land-clearing operations targeting Palestinian property.
These violations were concentrated in multiple neighborhoods, including Silwan, Issawiya, Jabal al-Mukaber, Sur Baher, Shuafat, Hizma, Al-Ram, and Al-Sawana, as well as agricultural lands in northeast Jerusalem.
The occupation also continued issuing demolition and eviction notices, recording 65 notices in total, including stop-construction orders, demolition orders, and eviction notices.
