DaysofPal– More than one million people in Lebanon have been driven from their homes in the past month due to Israeli attacks on civilian infrastructure, meaning roughly one in five residents is now displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch described the humanitarian crisis as worsening by the day.
He explained that Israeli evacuation orders, followed by continued airstrikes, have forced large numbers of people to flee, with displacement spreading across the country.
Currently, over a million people remain uprooted inside Lebanon as the conflict escalates both regionally and domestically.
Many of those affected are experiencing severe distress and trauma. Around 130,000 people are staying in more than 600 collective shelters.
Baloch added that the ongoing violence is not only impacting Lebanese citizens and Syrian refugees within the country but is also pushing many to leave Lebanon altogether in search of safety elsewhere.
He noted that displaced families are often living in overcrowded shelters, lacking proper indoor conditions and basic necessities.
In Gaza, Israeli attacks have similarly caused widespread devastation, with more than 72,000 civilians reported killed and over 200,000 others injured, further highlighting the scale of the humanitarian crisis across the region.
