Israeli Settler Attacks Escalate in WB, Aqsa Mosque

DaysofPal- Palestinian religious leader Raed Salah described the Al-Aqsa Mosque as “wounded, bleeding, and sorrowful” as Israeli occupation continues closing it during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a recorded statement delivered shortly before his arrest and subsequent release, Salah spoke from the Mount of Olives overlooking the Aqsa Mosque, which has remained closed since the early days of Ramadan.

He said that the call to prayer and congregational worship, including Friday prayers and nightly Taraweeh, have been suspended, forcing worshippers to pray outside in harsh weather.

Salah also referred to the wounds of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, warning of escalating tensions across the region amid ongoing crises affecting several Arab and Muslim countries.

According to attorney Khaled Zabarqa, Israeli special forces detained Salah while he was traveling to attend an iftar invitation in Jerusalem.

He was later released after undergoing questioning.

Zabarqa said the release came with conditions, including a 15-day ban on entering Jerusalem.

He described the arrest and interrogation as “arbitrary,” linking them to Salah’s recent visit to the city, where he met and extended holiday greetings to Sheikh Ekrima Sabri.

Salah, a resident of Umm al-Fahm, was held for approximately two hours at the Moscobiya interrogation center in West Jerusalem before being released.

Israeli occupation had closed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City on February 28, citing emergency measures related to the escalation involving Iran.

Since then, access to the site has been restricted, and all forms of prayer inside the Aqsa Mosque have been suspended, including Taraweeh prayers traditionally held during Ramadan.
