DaysofPal- Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk said on Tuesday that the release of Israeli captives was carried out strictly under an agreement reached with the resistance, stressing that Hamas never agreed to hand over its weapons under any circumstances.
In statements to Al Jazeera, Abu Marzouk said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no right to boast about the return of Israeli captives, emphasizing that their release took place solely in accordance with terms set by the resistance.
He underlined that at no stage did Hamas agree to surrender the weapons of the resistance in any form, adding that the issue has not even been raised for negotiation.
Abu Marzouk said that any arrangements related to the future of the Gaza Strip must be based on understandings with Hamas. He noted that the movement agreed, within Trump plan, to a general framework aimed at ending the war.
He also revealed that Hamas, through Egyptian mediators, expressed reservations about only two names proposed for a Palestinian committee tasked with administering Gaza, one of which was subsequently excluded.
Additionally, Abu Marzouk disclosed that information regarding the location of the body of the last Israeli captive, Ran Gvili, in Gaza was provided to mediators approximately one month ago.
The Israeli occupation forces launched a large-scale genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and orders by the International Court of Justice to halt the offensive.
The assault has resulted in more than 242,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, most of them women and children, with over 8,000 people still missing.
Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, while famine has claimed the lives of many, including children, amid widespread devastation across the territory.
