DaysofPal – Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that 15 people were brought to hospitals across the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours as a result of the ongoing Israeli assault. The toll includes two newly killed victims and 13 bodies recovered from beneath the rubble.
The ministry reported in its daily update that many victims are still lying in the streets or trapped beneath debris because ambulance and civil defense teams are still unable to get to them because of ongoing attacks and challenging circumstances.
The ministry also announced that one civilian had died and another had been injured after a building collapsed, bringing the total number of fatalities from building collapses since the beginning of winter to 25.
Israeli forces have continued to violate the ceasefire agreement, launching multiple airstrikes on the southern city of Rafah. Eastern areas of the city have come under intense artillery shelling and gunfire, resulting in further injuries and fatalities among civilians.
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of strikes on western Rafah, while artillery fire also targeted the city. Israeli helicopter gunships opened fire over Rafah as well. In addition, artillery shelling struck northeastern areas of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, where Israeli helicopters were seen flying at low altitudes.
Earlier, the Government Media Office in Gaza warned of catastrophic humanitarian consequences from the severe cold waves hitting the territory, stressing that the ongoing war and tight blockade have sharply worsened civilian suffering.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by the United States and several European countries, has carried out a campaign of genocide in the Gaza Strip, involving killing, starvation, widespread destruction, displacement, and arrests, in defiance of international appeals and rulings by the International Court of Justice calling for an end to the assault.
According to official figures, the offensive has left more than 242,000 Palestinians killed or injured, the majority of them women and children, with over 11,000 people still missing.
Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, while famine has claimed many lives, mostly children, alongside massive destruction that has erased much of Gaza’s cities and neighborhoods.
