DaysofPal- The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has warned that the deepening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip represents a continuation of an ongoing genocide, stating that the crisis has not ceased despite an agreement reached in October.
The organization called on international mediators to exert real and effective pressure on Israel to halt ongoing violations.
Dr. Ramy Abdu, President of Euro-Med Monitor, told Palestine Online that he is “deeply concerned about the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.”
He noted that nearly two million Palestinians are currently living in worn-out tents, while most of the remaining population is sheltering in homes at risk of collapse due to extensive Israeli bombardment and destruction.
He said that approximately 90 percent of buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed.
Abdu stressed that the situation constitutes a continuation of genocide that “has not stopped for a single day,” arguing that Israel is using siege, starvation, and deprivation of shelter as tools of aggression aimed at creating “a coercive environment that drives Palestinians out after rendering life unlivable.”
He explained that the Israeli siege and prevention of the entry of caravans, construction materials, and medical supplies is part of a systematic policy to obstruct relief and recovery efforts which is a flagrant violation of international law, particularly amid harsh winter weather conditions.
According to Abdu, ongoing violations by Israeli forces, including killings, siege tactics, widespread destruction, and the demolition of homes, amount to the continued implementation of genocide in the Gaza Strip for more than two years.
He said these actions demonstrate a deliberate disregard for the agreement intended to halt the war, with Israel continuing the Israeli genocide through new tools and mechanisms while blocking any attempt at recovery or a return to normal life.
Euro-Med Monitor has documented the impact of these actions using field data, Abdu said, emphasizing that civilians remain at the center of the crisis.
“They have been subjected to mass killing, serious harm, starvation, siege, and the destruction of livelihoods,” he added.
Abdu also warned of the largest disinformation campaigns, accusing Israel of falsely claiming that the aggression and genocide had ended. Since the agreement came into force on October 10, he said, at least 390 Palestinians have been killed, more than 1,000 injured, and hundreds of homes destroyed.
On the role of mediators, Abdu said states guaranteeing the agreement bear both legal and moral responsibility to curb the Israeli violations and ensure full implementation of the deal.
He added that the international community as a whole shares responsibility, warning that continued silence amounts to complicity in these crimes.
He called for immediate and effective pressure to stop the aggression, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, and prevent Israel from evading its obligations under international law and agreements.
Despite the agreement, Israeli forces continue to carry out killings and home demolitions across Gaza, while restricting humanitarian aid and banning the entry of construction materials and shelter supplies, including temporary caravans.
More than 1.5 million displaced Palestinians living in deteriorating tents across the Strip are facing a worsening humanitarian tragedy, with no viable solutions or alternatives in sight.
Following the recent polar low-pressure system “Piron,” official data in Gaza indicated that more than 53,000 tents were partially or completely damaged or flooded.
Tarpaulins, plastic covers, and insulation materials were destroyed, while mattresses, blankets, bedding, cooking tools, and basic supplies were lost. Emergency shelters also collapsed in several areas, further compounding the crisis.
