DaysofPal- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced on Friday that at least 67 children have been killed in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire came into effect on 10 October.
UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires told reporters in Geneva that the numbers indicate an average of two children killed every day since the truce began.
He added that “dozens of other children have also been injured, meaning nearly two children are killed each day despite the ceasefire.”
Pires warned that the figures reflect a deeply alarming reality for the safety and protection of children in Gaza.
Despite the ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued violations that have resulted in the killing of 312 Palestinians and the injury of around 760 others, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
On Thursday, the Gaza Government Media Office marked World Children’s Day by reporting that more than 20,000 children have been killed during the Israeli genocidal war on the Strip.
The statement noted that 1,015 of the child victims were under one-year-old, and that over 450 infants were born and died during the war.
