DaysofPal – Local Palestinian sources reported that Israeli forces expanded the so-called “yellow zone” in eastern Gaza City following a deadly attack on Wednesday, highlighting how the remaining territory for Gaza’s population is being increasingly confined as if inside a cage.
The latest assault came after a bloody strike that targeted Gaza City and Khan Yunis, killing 25 people, including an entire family erased from the civil registry, a father with his three children, and a married couple, and leaving dozens injured, some critically.
Families in the affected areas were unable to flee as Israeli tanks advanced, with the fate of many still unknown amid ongoing shelling.
Israeli troops moved deeper into eastern Gaza, extending their control by 300 meters along the streets of Sha’af, Nazzaz, and Baghdad. The incursion represents a clear breach of the ceasefire, further restricting movement and squeezing tens of families into increasingly small, dangerous zones. Residents are left trapped, unable to leave the areas now effectively under military control.
The Government Media Office condemned the continuing attacks, stressing that they demonstrate Israel’s blatant disregard for the ceasefire. Since the agreement came into effect, nearly 400 violations have been recorded, resulting in over 300 deaths and hundreds of injuries, worsening the catastrophic conditions faced by Gaza’s population in the shrinking territory they inhabit.
Authorities pointed out that the ongoing violations are encouraged by the silence of mediators and guarantors, who have failed to take meaningful steps to hold Israel accountable for its obligations, including halting attacks on civilians and allowing the delivery of essential food, medical, shelter, and infrastructure supplies.
The office warned that the continued inaction and international silence are unacceptable. It stressed that the humanitarian consequences of these breaches are catastrophic, holding all parties responsible for the worsening conditions inflicted on the people of Gaza, who are increasingly trapped in what has become an almost cage-like enclave.
