DaysofPal – A Palestinian man was killed early Sunday in an Israeli drone strike on the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, in a fresh violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian resistance factions.
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Israeli forces continue to breach the truce, firing heavily in areas east of Khan Younis, while naval boats opened fire near Gaza’s port and the eastern coast of Rafah.
Nearly a month after the ceasefire came into effect, conditions in Gaza remain dire, exposing the fragility of the current calm. Daily scenes of destruction and deprivation show that the war’s toll endures, as aid trucks entering through border crossings carry only minimal supplies that fail to meet the population’s urgent needs.
At the same time, Israel’s daily violations persist, including limited airstrikes, the ongoing blockade, and restrictions on the entry of fuel and medical supplies to Gaza’s barely functioning hospitals.
Human rights concerns are also growing. The British newspaper The Guardian reported that dozens of Palestinians from Gaza are being held in harsh conditions inside Israel’s Rakhvit Prison, confined underground without sufficient light or food and subjected to beatings and humiliation, practices that rights groups say reflect Israel’s systemic abuse of detainees.
Meanwhile, Israeli media outlets reported that Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, is preparing to hand over the body of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin, recovered from an Israeli-controlled area in Rafah.
Reports said Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited Goldin’s family, a move interpreted by analysts as a sign that the transfer may soon occur.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, Gaza’s Health Ministry has documented 242 Palestinians killed and 614 wounded, with 522 bodies recovered from beneath the rubble.
The overall death toll from Israel’s assault on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has now risen to 69,169, most of them women and children, with more victims still trapped under collapsed buildings.
