DaysofPal- Gaza is facing an escalating humanitarian and health crisis, with dire conditions continuing to deteriorate, according to a spokesperson from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza.
He noted that the call for urgent international intervention has become more pressing as the region struggles with severe shortages in medical supplies and equipment.
He added that despite the ongoing truce, the Israeli occupation has not adhered to international humanitarian protocols, exacerbating the situation.
Moreover, medical sources stated that the hospital reports an immediate need for medical devices and supplies, as approximately 22,000 patients require treatment outside of Gaza.
They emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the tragic deaths of over 1,000 cancer patients during the recent conflict.
These patients were unable to receive necessary treatment due to stringent travel restrictions and a severe lack of medication.
Moreover, 41% of dialysis patients have succumbed to their conditions because of inadequate treatment options.
The healthcare system in Gaza is severely strained under the blockade, which has significantly restricted the flow of essential medical supplies.
This has forced healthcare providers to ration medications and limit treatment options, placing further stress on an already overwhelmed system.
The spokesperson urged mediators to intervene quickly to save Gaza’s healthcare system, which is on the brink of collapse.
There is an urgent need for international bodies to advocate for unrestricted access to humanitarian aid and medical supplies in Gaza.
Supporting organizations like Doctors Without Borders and the International Rescue Committee is crucial as they continue to provide medical care under challenging conditions.
Increased awareness and pressure can lead to meaningful change, making it essential for people to share information about the crisis widely.
The hospital’s plea for mediators to intervene highlights the critical condition of Gaza’s health infrastructure and the urgent need for a coordinated international response to prevent further loss of life.
