DaysofPal – The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that Israeli occupation forces have killed 38 Palestinians since a ceasefire agreement took effect two weeks ago, highlighting ongoing threats to civilians despite the temporary truce.

A news massacre occurred in the Zeitoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City, where Israeli forces struck a civilian vehicle carrying 11 members of the Shaaban family, including seven children and two women, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense.

“The Shaaban family tragedy could have been avoided,” a Civil Defense spokesperson said. “The vehicle crossed the so-called ‘yellow line,’ yet it could have been warned or approached differently. Instead, it was struck, killing innocent civilians.”

The vehicle was targeted near Kuwait Roundabout on Salah al-Din Street while the family returned to assess damage to homes they had been displaced from. Rescue teams faced difficulties transporting the wounded due to continued shelling and threats to those trying to reach the site.

Despite the truce between Palestinian groups and Israeli forces, reports indicate that shelling continues intermittently across Gaza. The Gaza Center for Human Rights has documented 47 ceasefire violations by the Israeli military since the agreement began. At least 38 Palestinians were reported killed and 143 injured during that time, highlighting the vulnerability of civilians even in the face of a declared ceasefire.

Officials stress that the attacks, particularly targeting returning displaced families, highlight the urgent need for international monitoring and protection of civilians.

“The repeated Israeli strikes on civilian areas show that the ceasefire remains fragile,” the Civil Defense spokesperson added. “Our priority is saving lives, but continued violations make every rescue operation extremely dangerous.”
