DaysofPal— In a significant move aimed at halting the war and ensuring the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, Hamas announced Friday evening its acceptance of a US-brokered proposal—originally put forward by Donald Trump, that includes the release of all Israeli captives, both living and deceased.

In its statement, Hamas said it agrees to a full prisoner exchange based on the terms of the proposal, provided the logistical conditions on the ground are met. The group affirmed its readiness to immediately begin talks with the involved mediators—Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to finalize the implementation.

Hamas clarified that this position was reached after thorough discussions within its leadership, in coordination with other Palestinian factions, and following consultations with regional allies and mediators.

The group expressed appreciation for the international, Arab, Islamic, and American efforts to end the conflict, facilitate humanitarian aid entry, and support a fair prisoner exchange.

Additionally, Hamas voiced its openness to handing over governance of Gaza to a technocratic Palestinian administration, based on national consensus and backed by regional support. It emphasized that aspects of the Trump plan related to Gaza’s future and Palestinian rights require unified Palestinian coordination and must align with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

Egypt and Qatar welcomed Hamas’s response. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry described it as a “positive step” that could help achieve de-escalation and open the way for a durable political settlement ending Palestinian suffering and realizing an independent state. It urged all parties to commit to ceasefire terms, ease humanitarian access, and begin implementation talks, especially regarding displaced Palestinians’ return and reconstruction.

Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman also welcomed the move, reaffirming support for an immediate ceasefire to ensure the safe release of captives and end Palestinian bloodshed. He confirmed Doha was coordinating with Egypt and the US to keep the plan moving forward.

President Trump responded on social media: “Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza so we can secure the safe and swift release of the hostages.” He added: “This is not just about Gaza, this is about achieving long-awaited peace in the Middle East.”
