DaysofPal- Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, reported that Israeli airstrikes have displaced more than 6,000 people in just one day.
Bassal explained that the Israeli attacks targeted homes, residential towers, and UNRWA schools, causing widespread destruction of infrastructure and forcing thousands of civilians to flee their homes.
Sources confirmed that the airstrikes were not limited to the directly targeted areas but also struck zones presumed to be “safe,” exacerbating the suffering of civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
Bassal also stated that Israeli claims that a quarter of a million residents fled Gaza City and its suburbs to the south are false.
Meanwhile, the director-general of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Mohamed Abu Salmiya, said that displacement continues within Gaza City from east to west.
He added that only a few thousand managed to reach the southern Gaza Strip due to a lack of available space in the western parts of the city, with areas such as Al-Mawasi and Deir al-Balah completely overcrowded.
Abu Salmiya further noted that many have returned to Gaza City after failing to secure shelter or basic services amid the dire conditions, stating:
“After the Israeli occupation finishes bombing schools, homes, towers, and tents, citizens return to the same areas and set up their tents again. The residents remain steadfast in Gaza City.” He said.
These attacks come at a critical time, amid growing international pressure on the Israeli occupation to halt military operations in the Gaza Strip, raising fears of a worsening humanitarian crisis.
