DaysofPal- The Global Freedom Flotilla Coalition announced that its largest vessel, the Spanish ship Alma, was attacked by an Israeli incendiary drone while docked at the port of Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia, sparking a fire on board.
The coalition said specialized teams quickly managed to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.
It confirmed that the attack deliberately targeted the flotilla’s largest ship but reported no human casualties, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident.
This marks the second such attack in less than 24 hours as on Tuesday, the Spanish vessel Family was hit by a drone off the Tunisian coast.
According to the coalition, the drone was Israeli, and the ship sustained minor damage before the fire was brought under control, with no injuries reported.
Activists released video footage showing the moment the flotilla’s main boat caught fire off Tunisia’s coast.
The footage, filmed from another flotilla vessel, shows a burning object dropping from above onto the Family ship, igniting flames on deck.
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, said on X that the most likely scenario was a drone strike.
She added that two more flotilla vessels are currently en route to Tunisia and are in urgent need of protection.
Following news of the latest attack, a large crowd of activists and citizens gathered at the port in solidarity with the flotilla, raising Palestinian flags and chanting in support of Gaza and the resistance.
