DaysofPal- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have escalated a relentless series of airstrikes and bombings that left Gaza City reeling, with more than 150 buildings destroyed in a single day.
The Israeli strikes targeted high-rise towers that provided shelter to thousands of civilians, according to reports from Gaza’s civil defense service.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the civil defense, stated that the Israeli military deliberately targeted areas surrounded by tents and shelter centers, destroying over 200 tents that housed displaced families.
The latest wave of Israeli attacks also severely damaged the city’s remaining mosques and sports facilities, exacerbating the already dire living conditions of Gaza’s residents.
Particularly devastating was the bombing in the al-Zarqa area of the al-Tuffah neighborhood, where civil defense teams responded to urgent distress calls from civilians trapped under rubble after an unannounced strike.
Basal described the situation as one of “the most difficult days of the war” since hostilities resumed on March 18, 2025, noting that first responders are overwhelmed by the scale and intensity of the attacks.
Basal issued an urgent plea to the international community for immediate intervention to stop the ongoing massacres, warning that continued inaction risks deepening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza City.
Human Rights Organizations have expressed alarm, suggesting the destruction is a collective punishment and breach of international law, as it displaces thousands of civilians who are already under genocide and starvation.
