DaysofPal-The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have escalated a bombardment campaign against Gaza City, systematically destroying high-rise residential buildings in their efforts to occupy the city and forcibly displace its people.
The latest residential tower was Al-Ruya Tower, which IOF bombed on Sunday, adding to the more than 50 buildings destroyed during the Israeli offensive, according to Palestinian Civil Defense.
The Israeli attacks on buildings resulted in at least 65 deaths across the Gaza Strip, including 49 in the northern part on Sunday only.
This follows earlier strikes on Soussi Tower and Mushtaha Tower, as the Israeli forces push to displace over a million residents to the southern part of the enclave.
The Israeli forces claimed that Mawasi area in the south of Gaza is a “humanitarian zone,” but Palestinian residents report that this area is repeatedly bombed by the Israeli forces, besides no space is available in the area which is a very densely populated area.
Amjad Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, described the scene as “scary,” with widespread panic and hundreds of families losing their shelters.
He asserted that the Israeli crimes aim to force Palestinians southward, despite there being no safe haven in the territory.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire whereas Gaza’s health authorities report that the Israeli genocide has killed at least 64,368 Palestinians and injured 162,776 since October 2023, with thousands more trapped under rubble.
In the past day alone, five people, including three children, have died from starvation, raising the total malnutrition-related deaths to 387 since the conflict began.
Amidst the devastation, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a “final warning” to Hamas, suggesting a new proposal to end the Israeli war on Gaza.
Hamas, in turn, has expressed willingness to negotiate, welcoming any initiatives to reach a ceasefire.
