DaysofPal – The Hamas Movement strongly denounced Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir’s recent approval of plans to occupy Gaza City, warning that the move marks the start of a “new wave of brutal genocide and criminal displacement” targeting hundreds of thousands of residents and internally displaced persons.
The movement says the plan is “the clearest image of Zionist arrogance, its disregard for international law, and its insistence on continuing its war of extermination,” which has been going on for over 22 months.
Hamas criticized Israeli claims of providing tents and humanitarian support in southern Gaza, calling it “a blatant deception intended to cover up a brutal crime that the occupation is preparing to commit.” The movement highlighted that the United Nations has rejected Israel’s actions, noting that they violate basic humanitarian standards and constitute “a criminal use of humanitarian pressure against civilians to achieve political and military objectives.”
The statement also linked developments in Gaza to the ongoing situation in the West Bank, including daily Israeli incursions and armed settler attacks, portraying these actions as part of a unified “Zionist project” aimed at displacing Palestinians and Judaizing Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Hamas stressed that Israeli plans are part of a broader agenda to establish what it termed “Greater Israel” at the expense of regional countries. The movement called for a comprehensive resistance strategy and urged Arab and Islamic nations to adopt a unified position to confront the occupation and defend Palestinian people.
“We are facing a dangerous moment that calls for a unified national stance to build a comprehensive resistance strategy that confronts the criminal plans aimed at uprooting our people and obliterating their identity,” Hamas said.
“Arab and Islamic countries are also obligated to take clear steps to confront this fascist entity in light of its announced projects targeting the countries and peoples of the region.”
Israeli media, including Kan Channel, reported Sunday evening that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir had formally approved the plans to occupy Gaza City, estimating that the operation will take approximately four months to execute. The plan reportedly involves a phased approach, beginning with mass evacuations and blockades, followed by a gradual military entry into the city.
