DaysofPal- In the past 24 hours, hospitals in the Gaza Strip have received the bodies of five individuals killed in fresh Israeli attacks. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 37 people were also injured, either by the ongoing Israeli strikes or by unexploded ordnance.
One of the recent incidents occurred in Rafah’s Tal as-Sultan neighborhood, where an Israeli army attack left a Palestinian woman wounded, as reported by local sources. In addition, Israeli army vehicles and drones have been targeting individuals trying to return to their homes in southern and central Rafah, further causing casualties.
Two people were killed and numerous others were injured Sunday by Israeli artillery shelling in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood near Al-Qubba Park in the northern Gaza Strip. Doctors at the Arab Baptist Ahli Hospital noted that the condition of some of the injured individuals was critical. These attacks occurred in areas that were considered safe for Palestinians who were inspecting their destroyed homes.
The latest fatalities have contributed to the rising death toll in Gaza, which has now reached 48,458 since the onset of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023. The Health Ministry also reported that the number of wounded has surged to 111,897.
Efforts to recover the bodies of missing individuals continue across the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Israel has announced the immediate cessation of electricity supplies to Gaza, a decision made by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen. This will result in a complete power outage across the region.
Furthermore, Israeli media reported that Israel plans to escalate its operations in Gaza within the week, including cutting off electricity and water supplies, carrying out assassinations, displacing more Palestinians to southern Gaza, and intensifying military actions.
Humanitarian aid has also been halted since last Sunday, with significant concerns over the impending risk of famine for Palestinians.
A ceasefire agreement, brokered by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States, came into effect on January 19. This agreement is structured in three phases, each lasting 42 days, with negotiations for the subsequent phase taking place before the current one ends.
