DaysofPal- Hamas has confirmed that the second phase of the prisoner swap deal, as part of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, will proceed as planned on Saturday, January 25.

In a statement issued on Monday, senior Hamas official Nahed al-Fakhouri explained that on the day of the swap, both sides would submit their lists: Hamas would present the names of the Israeli captives to be released, while Israel would provide the names of the Palestinian prisoners who will be freed. This second batch of exchanges will follow the terms of the first phase of the deal, which was previously agreed upon.

The exchange is set to begin on Sunday, January 26, with Fakhouri emphasizing that the resistance will continue its efforts to achieve further releases of Palestinian prisoners in future phases of the agreement.

The ceasefire, which took effect last Sunday morning, is set to end its first phase after 42 days. During this period, 33 Israeli detainees are expected to be released in exchange for 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, all while hostilities remain halted in Gaza.

Under the ceasefire terms, on the seventh day of the agreement, Israeli forces will withdraw from Rashid Street to Salah al-Din Street in the east. The dismantling of all military installations in the region will also allow displaced people to return home with assurances of unrestricted mobility throughout Gaza. Vehicles will also be allowed to return north of the Netzarim axis after undergoing inspection by a company appointed by mediators.

On the 22nd day of the agreement, Israeli forces will retreat further from central Gaza, particularly from the Netzarim axis and Kuwait roundabout, moving closer to the border. Military installations in these areas will be completely dismantled, further facilitating the return of displaced persons and the lifting of movement restrictions across Gaza.
