DaysofPal- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned of a dire and unsafe situation for Palestinians in northern Gaza due to the ongoing Israeli assault there, and intensive military operations in the area.
OCHA emphasized the urgent need to protect civilians wherever they are, as Israeli occupation forces continue killing civilians indiscriminately.
In a statement on Tuesday, OCHA highlighted that Israeli authorities continue to obstruct UN efforts to deliver vital humanitarian aid to the region.
The statement revealed that Israeli forces denied many attempts to access hospitals in northern Gaza earlier in the day.
The missions were aimed at evacuating patients from Al-Awda and the Indonesian hospitals, as well as delivering essential supplies, including food, water, fuel, and hygiene items, to residents in the area.
Critical Challenges
OCHA noted that access to Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia remains severely restricted due to the Israeli-imposed blockade on northern Gaza.
Al-Awda is currently the only partially functioning hospital in the governorate but is facing acute shortages of fuel and medical supplies.
The situation underscores the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as international aid organizations struggle to reach those in desperate need amidst ongoing military actions and access restrictions.
OCHA confirmed that Al-Indonesi Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, remains out of service due to the destruction of critical infrastructure.
The hospital lacks water, electricity, hygiene supplies, and sufficient staff, where the last UN supply delivery to the facility occurred late last month.

According to Dr. Marwan Sultan, the hospital’s medical director, a massive attack on Monday caused significant damage to the hospital’s second floor, Dr. Sultan described the situation as catastrophic, with Israeli strikes also destroying power generators and oxygen stations.
He revealed that a doctor sustained severe injuries while attempting to exit the hospital amidst ongoing attacks, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by medical staff and patients alike.
Dr. Sultan warned that the lack of water, food, and medical supplies has plunged the hospital into a dire situation, exacerbated by the closure of Kamal Adwan Hospital.

In a statement released on Saturday, WHO highlighted its efforts to reach Al-Awda Hospital to resupply it and assess the situation at Kamal Adwan Hospital. However, severely damaged roads and unsafe conditions due to ongoing Israeli bombardments have made access nearly impossible, endangering the lives of WHO personnel.
The statement emphasized that inadequate facilitation by Israeli authorities has rendered it unsafe to reach these facilities, presenting a significant challenge to delivering essential aid.
