DaysOfPal— The director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hussam Abu Safieh, confirmed Saturday, November 9, 2024, that Israeli forces have, for the third time, prevented a surgical medical team from entering the facility, which has been surrounded for weeks.
Dr. Abu Safieh also reported that the military has blocked all medical supplies from reaching the hospital for more than a month, adding that ambulances are barred from operating in the area.
“Patients are arriving in critical condition due to starvation,” Abu Safieh stated in comments to the press today, calling the humanitarian crisis “catastrophic.”
He added that Israeli forces have targeted aid convoys trying to enter Gaza, even those organized by the World Health Organization. “We remain under siege. It’s time to protect Gaza’s health system,” he urged, calling for immediate intervention by global humanitarian organizations.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health issued an emergency plea to end the relentless bombardment that has continued since Monday. The ministry further claimed that Israeli commanders have given orders to “execute medical staff who refuse to evacuate the hospital.”
Since early October, the Israeli military, with U.S. support, has intensified a deadly offensive across northern Gaza, targeting areas like Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, and Jabalia. With ongoing airstrikes and severe shortages of food, water, and medicine, northern Gaza faces an escalating humanitarian catastrophe.
More than 146,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured in the assault, most of them women and children, while over 10,000 remain missing amid mass devastation and critical food shortages.
