DayofPal– For the sixteenth consecutive day, the Israeli army has paralyzed Civil Defense in all areas of northern Gaza, perpetuating vivid acts of genocide against it including attacking with airstrikes, spokesperson for the Civil Defense, Mahmoud Bassal, stated today.
Bassal confirmed in press statements that thousands of citizens in Gaza have been killed and many injured people have succumbed to their injuries because the Israeli army has prevented the Civil Defense teams and medical staff from continuing their work, further attacking their necessary equipment to save their lives.
On October 23rd, the Israeli army attacked the Civil Defense teams in northern Gaza, seized their vehicles, displaced most of their personnel to the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, and kidnapped nine of its staff members.
Bassal called on all international human rights and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to allow the Civil Defense teams and their vehicles to work, respond to the distress calls of citizens trapped under the rubble, and work to save their lives.
Bassal pointed out in previous statements that the Israeli occupation is obstructing and disabling the humanitarian and medical system to pressure the residents of northern Gaza to leave, warning that the northern governorates of the Gaza Strip is heading towards a real famine due to Israel’s continued prevention of aid from entering.
For the 34th consecutive day, the Israeli occupation army continues to carry out airstrikes on inhabited homes around the clock, while the medical system and Civil Defense have been rendered out of service due to targeting, disruption, and the prevention of medical and humanitarian aid.
After military invasions in December 2023 and May 2024, this is the third time the Israeli army has raided Jabalia since the start of the genocide against the Gaza Strip more than a year ago.
