Israeli forces detained today and yesterday 65 Palestinians, mostly from the northern West Bank district of Tulkarm, before releasing 56 of them, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
It said in a press release that Israeli forces detained last night 56 Palestinians, mostly from Shweika and Zeita towns in the Tulkarm district after entering Israel through the gates that the Israeli military had left open for unclear reason. They were released several hours afterwards.
PPS added that nine others were rounded up early this morning from different parts of the West Bank.
Local sources elaborated that Israeli forces raided Abu Dis town, east of Jerusalem, rounding up three Palestinians, including a former prisoner who spent 16 years behind bars.
Israeli military conducted similar raids in the southern West Bank city of Hebron and nearby Halhoul detaining two others.
Meanwhile, a large Israeli military force stormed the vicinity of al-Amari refugee camp, al-Quds Street and Satah Marhaba in al-Bireh city, ransacking homes and interrogating dozens of Palestinians.
The raid triggered confrontations during which soldiers opened fire at local youngsters. No injuries were reported though.
Soldier also raided Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, where they nabbed a Palestinian after thoroughly searching his house.
This came as several military vehicles stormed Kobar town, north of Ramallah, where soldiers obstructed movement of people, searched dozens of cars on their way in or out of the village, bulldozed a plot of land for no specific reason. Israeli military claimed afterwards that soldiers safely detonated two explosive devices in an open area in the village.
During ensuring confrontations, soldiers opened fire towards youngsters who attempted to block their passage near Birzeit University and Abu Shkheidim village. No injuries were reported though.
In the meantime, witnesses confirmed an Israeli military raid in Azzun town, east of Qalqiliya, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.
