The Emergency Committee of Municipalities in Gaza has classified the cities of Jabalia and Beit Hanoun as disaster areas due to the massive destruction caused by the Israeli aggression and the recent military operations there, Sunday June 2nd.
In a press conference, the committee stated that the Israeli occupation destroyed 50,000 housing units and bulldozed sewage networks and roads in most municipalities in northern Gaza. It noted the destruction of 35 water wells, schools, and UNRWA facilities, warning of an imminent famine threatening northern Gaza.
In the same context, the Civil Defense in Gaza announced on Sunday that its teams had retrieved 70 bodies in Jabalia after the Israeli occupation army withdrew from the northern Gaza enclave on Friday following a 20-day ground assault, leaving unprecedented widespread destruction, especially in Jabalia Camp.
The committee indicated that a large number of the bodies of the martyrs remain under the rubble, with efforts ongoing to reach and identify them despite difficulties and limited resources.
Medical sources at Kamal Adwan Hospital reported that the toll of those retrieved so far has reached more than 120 bodies from the streets and destroyed buildings in Jabalia.
Efforts to retrieve the bodies of the victims from the streets, alleys, and under the rubble of the destroyed buildings are continuing.
