A Palestinian fisherman fell victim to gunfire from Israeli naval forces while fishing in the northern waters off Gaza on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
Reports from the Gaza Fishermen’s Committee Union have confirmed that the injured fisherman, identified as Mohammad Bakr, sustained injuries caused by rubber-coated metal bullets fired by Israeli naval soldiers. Baker’s injuries have been categorized as moderate.
The Israeli navy routinely attacks Palestinian fishermen in the waters off Gaza by firing at them, arresting them, damaging their fishing nets, seizing their boats, and preventing them from fishing.
