Israeli Settlers stormed on Sunday, August 13, 2023, “Ras Alteen” school in Ramallah’s eastern region.
The school, threatened with demolition by Israeli occupation authorities, had its windows smashed. Local sources reported that a group of settlers entered the school, broke its windows, and vandalized its contents.
The school is situated in a Bedouin community in the territories of Kfar Malek, Abu Falah, and Al-Mughayir to the east of Ramallah.
It was constructed in 2020 as part of the “Challenge Schools” initiative by the Anti-Wall and Settlement Authority and the Ministry of Education.
In October 2020, an Israeli decision was issued to demolish the school under the pretext that it is located within an area under complete Israeli control, where construction is prohibited for any purpose, even if it’s a school.
“Ras Alteen” school is one of the 18 “Challenge Schools” established by the Anti-Wall and Settlement Authority and the Ministry of Education in Area “C” of the West Bank.
This area is subject to restrictions on construction imposed by the Israeli occupation. Despite this policy, the local citizens are striving to remain on their land and confront the occupation’s actions.
Earlier today, settlers also stormed “the Challenge School” in the Wadi al-Siq Bedouin community, east of Ramallah, where they smashed windows and vandalized its contents.
