Israeli forces stormed on Tuesday, 8 August 2023 Nablus City in the occupied West Bank and blew up the family home of a slain Palestinian man.
The large contingent of Israeli soldiers poured into Nablus in the Old City, cordoning off the family home of the murdered Palestinian Abdel Fattah Kharousha.
Eyewitness affirmed that Israelis spent hours planting explosives that later pulverized the Kharousha family’s apartment.
Israeli occupation forces forced about 60 Palestinian locals including 20 children from the owners of houses adjacent to the home of the Kharousha family to leave their homes and detained them in a mosque, local sources reported.
Published photos showed soldiers painstakingly planting explosives in the walls of the home before the massive blast that turned the spacious apartment to ruins and rubble, while also blowing out the windows of homes in the neighborhood.
During the demolition operation, intense confrontations broke out between Palestinian residents and Israeli forces in several parts of Nablus city.
A Palestinian man was wounded by Israeli live bullets, two others with shrapnel, while three Palestinian young men were wounded by rubber-coated metal bullets, according to Palestinian medical crews.
Crescent crews added that its crews dealt with 185 cases of suffocation, and evacuated a Palestinian family of five members.
It is noteworthy that 49-year-old Abdel Fattah Kharousha was killed by the Israeli occupation bullets during the military raid on the Jenin camp on the seventh of last March.
Demolishing the homes of Palestinians for allegedly carrying out attacks on Israelis is a long-held practice of Israel.
Thousands of Palestinian people have lost their homes to demolitions in what human rights groups say is a policy by the Israeli occupation of collective punishment that may amount to war crimes.
“International humanitarian law, including the Hague Regulations of 1907 and the Fourth Geneva Convention, prohibits collective punishment, including deliberately harming the relatives of those accused of committing crimes, in all circumstances,” Human Rights Watch said in February.
“Courts around the world have treated collective punishment as a war crime,” the rights group said.
Since the beginning of 2023, Israeli occupation forces demolished 639 Palestinian homes, displacing 14,229 Palestinian people including women and children, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
