Israeli occupation navy committed 54 violations against Palestinian fishermen and their fishing boats during the last month of October, according to the Palestinian fishermen’s committees in the Gaza Strip.
Zakaria Bakr, head of fishermen committees in Gaza, stated on Wednesday that the Israeli navy committed several violations, including shooting, confiscation, and damaging the boats in addition to detaining the Palestinian fishermen.
Baker pointed out that the Israeli navy detained four Palestinian fishermen in October 2022. Three of them were injured ahead of their detention.
In addition, Bakr reported that 40 Israeli shooting attacks were documented during October against the Palestinian fishing boats.
Up to 50,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip rely on fishing as their main source of income. The number of Palestinian fishermen reached 4500.
Under the Israeli blockade, Palestinian fishermen are subjected to ongoing waves of Israeli attacks, which resulted either in injuring them or causing material damage to their fishing boats.
