Oman’s “SalamAir” airline has declared its departure from the upcoming Bahrain International Airshow due to the involvement of Israeli businesses, while the Kuwait Finance House (bank) has taken its emblem from the list of sponsors of the event.
For the first time, Israeli businesses will take part in the biennial international exhibition.
In a statement released in May of last year, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said that his nation would neither establish diplomatic ties nor reach a normalization agreement with Israel. He also called for a fair resolution to the Palestinian issue.
“Omanis Against Normalization,” said on its Twitter page that the name of Oman had been removed from the Bahraini airshow’s website following the Omani company’s withdrawal.
Additionally, the involvement of Israeli military and security firms in the Bahrain International Airshow, which is scheduled for November 9, has drawn criticism from various anti-normalization organizations in Gulf nations.
Four Israeli corporations were listed as attendees by the Gulf Coalition Against Normalization, which asserted that their involvement in the event contributed to the slaughter of Gazan people and the destruction of Palestinian houses through the production of weapons and jets for the Israeli occupation army.
The Kuwait Finance House was applauded by the coalition for acting quickly by having its emblem removed from the list of the airshow’s sponsors.
The Bahraini National Initiative Against Normalization commended the boycotting parties and urged the other attendees to do the same.
In recent years, the official relations of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Sudan with the Israeli occupation have been normalized.
