Dozens of residents of Al-Jadida – Al- Makr in Acre, in the 48 lands, participated, on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, in a protest against the “Tantour scheme” that threatens to seize their lands.
The “Tantour scheme” aims to seize private lands in order to establish a modern Israeli city next to the town, comprising more than 5,000 housing units, and the establishment of an industrial zone of 800 acres.
The participants raised banners reading: “Tantour is a red line”, “We will not allow the confiscation of our lands”, “We reject the landfill” and other slogans expressing their rejection of the scheme.
The participants also called on the people of the north and the Galilee in the 48 lands to confront this plan, expressing their fear that the catastrophe of 1948 will be repeated again through the forced displacement schemes.
Activist Malik Shinawi told a local news outlet” We will confront with all our might this plan and reject its passage because it threatens to create a people’s catastrophe again, and we do not want that altogether”
