Israeli Settlers Vandalize 20 Olive Trees in Occupied Hebron

A group of Israeli settlers vandalized Sunday 8 May 2022 about 20 olive trees in Tuwani village, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources.

The coordinator of the Committee for the Protection and Resilience of the South Hebron Mountains and the Masafer Yatta area, Fuad Al-Amour, said that a group of Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Khafat Ma’on, adjacent to the village of Tuwani, broke down vandalized about 20 olive trees on the lands of the Palestinian citizen Hatem Mahmoud Makhamra.

Al-Amour added that the village of Tuwani and Masafer Yatta is witnessing a noticeable escalation in settlers’ violations and attacks, to put pressure on the Palestinian people and force them to leave their lands in favor of settlement.

The Israeli Supreme Court in Jerusalem had given the green light to demolish 12 residential communities in Masafer Yatta and displace residents after it rejected a petition by the residents against the decision.

The court’s move, which is considered one of the largest expulsions carried out by the Israeli occupation in recent decades, leads to the confiscation of over 35,000 dunam of land to consolidate colonial settlement construction in the region.

The area has been subjected to repeated Israeli occupation violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living – livestock. These violations include the demolition of animal barns, homes, and residential structures.
