The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) slammed the Israeli Occupation plan to build 4000 new settlement units on the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to displacing over 1,300 Palestinian citizens living in the Masafer Yatta area, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
OIC stressed that this is a flagrant breach of international law and relevant UN resolutions, particularly UNSC Resolution 2334.
It called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement its resolutions, stop all settlement activities in all the occupied Palestinian territory, compel the Israeli occupation to stop its continued violations, and ensure accountability for its continued crimes and aggressions against the Palestinian people.
Last Wednesday, the Israeli Supreme Court issued its ruling paving the way for the demolition of eight small villages in Masafer Yatta, located in the farthest south of Hebron province in the occupied West Bank.
The court’s move, which is considered one of the largest expulsions carried out by the Israeli occupation in recent decades, leads to the confiscation of over 35,000 dunam of land to consolidate colonial settlement construction in the region.
The area has been subjected to repeated Israeli occupation violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living – livestock. These violations include the demolition of animal barns, homes, and residential structures.
