“I can’t remember!”
As his screams blasted off digital screens, Ahmad Manasra, the 14year old then, was sentenced to 12years behind bars under claims of him attempting to carry out a stabbing attack.
As a victim of racial profiling, the child was run over and severely hit by Israeli settlers leaving the kid with severe subdural hematoma.
This was followed by his unconstitutional arrest as the child was 13 years and 9 months old making him a minor as the Israeli civil law supposedly doesn’t legislate the arrest of children under 14 years old of age.
Quickly After Manasra got discharged from the ICU unit, he was subjected to a brutal investigation leaving the child screaming out, “I can’t remember. I can’t remember if I defended him. I’m hurt I can’t remember a thing. Please believe me.”
Being questioned under such conditions added to the trauma Ahmad has faced especially since he saw his cousin Hassan, then 15 years old, be shot dead in front of his eyes.
The child was systematically put into solitary confinement under false pretenses. Forced to soil himself.
The severe physical assault and psychological torture left the child with serious mental issues that require urgent medical attention. According to an Israeli psychologist who diagnosed the child with schizophrenia.
He has been denied from seeing his family for months on end, which in turn worsened his already struggling mental state. His family Implored the apartheid government to offer him the medical care he needs for his illness but instead, they got him heavily medicated.
Today Manasra is almost 21 years old. Social media activists are calling for the release of Manasra who lost his childhood inside the aisles of the Israeli jails as Israeli courts refused to appeal his sentence. The campaign took social media by storm demanding that Manasra get home to his loved ones as he was supposed to seven years ago.
