Israeli occupation deported 17 Palestinians from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem in January, Wadi Hilweh Information Centre announced yesterday.
“The Israeli decisions included preventing 8 Palestinians from entering Al-Aqsa and another 5 from entering Jerusalem for allegedly residing illegally in the city, despite the fact that they were born and raised in the city,” the organization said in its monthly report which monitors Israeli violations in Jerusalem.
It added that the deported local had applied for “family unification requests multiple times to no avail.”
The report added that 30 Jerusalemites were also deported from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and from the streets of Jerusalem, “Bab al-Amoud, Sultan Suleiman, and Bab al-Sahira.”
The report stated that Israeli forces had arrested 214 Palestinians among them 41 minors and 4 women in January.
The information center confirmed that over 70 Palestinians were arrested in the last 4 days of the last month allegedly they threw snow and stone at the Israeli occupation forces in Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces had demolished “34 facilities in Jerusalem, 17 of which were self-demolished [by Palestinians] following a decision by the occupation’s municipality,” the report said.
“Israeli settlers laid wires around the land of the Salem family in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, to control and seize it,” Wadi Hilweh said, noting that “the occupation’s Execution and Procedures Department issued an order to evict the Salem family from their property in favor of the settlers, claiming that the settlers own the land on which the house was built before 1948.”
“Extremist Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir, and Deputy Mayor of the occupation, Arieh King, accompanied by dozens of settlers, carried out a provocative tour of Sheikh Jarrah in both its eastern and western parts, provoking the residents by threatening them to seize their homes and expel them from them,” the center said.
