At least 33 Palestinians were killed in northern Gaza since dawn today as Israeli airstrikes continued to pound the besieged enclave.
The latest attacks came as Israel’s siege of north Gaza crossed the 100-day mark, with Palestinian officials saying some 5,000 people have been killed or are missing since the offensive began.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that today’s fatalities add to the mounting death toll in the region, which has seen relentless bombardment for months.
Northern Gaza, particularly areas near Jabalia and Beit Lahia, has been the epicenter of the strikes, with civilian homes, schools, and makeshift shelters being targeted.
Aid organizations have condemned the continued violence, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza. Medical supplies, food, and fuel are critically low, and hospitals are operating at overcapacity with diminishing resources.
“The people of Gaza are being crushed under the weight of incessant bombings and a complete siege,” said a spokesperson for Médecins Sans Frontières. “This level of suffering is unimaginable and wholly unacceptable.”
The international community has issued statements of concern but has yet to achieve any meaningful resolution. Palestinian officials have called for immediate international intervention to halt what they describe as “a campaign of ethnic cleansing.”
“The ongoing massacres in Gaza represent a flagrant violation of international law,” said Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, a Palestinian politician and human rights advocate. “The world must act now to stop these atrocities.”
Civilians Bear the Brunt
For families in Gaza, today’s airstrikes have brought yet more grief and uncertainty. Residents in the northern region continue to seek refuge, though safe havens are virtually nonexistent in the besieged territory.
“My cousin’s entire family was killed this morning,” said Ahmed, a resident of Beit Lahia. “They were just sitting in their home, trying to stay safe. Where can we go? There is no place left for us.”
As the sun sets over Gaza, the grief-stricken population braces for yet another night of airstrikes and fear. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue teams sift through the rubble, searching for survivors in the ruins of what were once vibrant neighborhoods.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 46,584 Palestinians and wounded 109,731 since October 7, 2023.
