Since the start of July, Israeli occupation forces have fatally shot 28 Palestinians in various incidents across the West Bank and Jerusalem.
According to data collected by Days of Palestine DOP, the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire since the beginning of the year has reached 214.
Among the casualties, 173 were from the West Bank and Jerusalem, 4 from the 1948-occupied lands, and 37 from the Gaza Strip.
The casualties were distributed throughout the year: 36 in January, 31 in February, 27 in March, 12 in April, 56 in May, 24 in June, and 28 until July 28th.
Jenin
The situation in Jenin, one of the cities in the West Bank, has been particularly dire, experiencing intensified attacks and aggression.
Jenin has been a frequent target of Israeli occupation forces, and in July 2023, the city witnessed two days of intense aggression, resulting in the killing of 12 Palestinians.
The attack destroyed the camp’s narrow streets and pathways, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes, and causing the death of 12 Palestinians.
Israeli occupation forces carry out semi-daily incursions in the cities of the West Bank, terrorizing and kidnapping Palestinians, and wreaking havoc on their homes. 16 other Palestinians were killed in Jerusalem, Qalqilia, Nablus, and Tulkarm.
Children
Israeli troops murdered five Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank last July, including four during the deadly raid on Jenin.
Israeli forces killed four Palestinian children in Jenin during the military offensive on the city: 16-year-olds Abdulrahman Harda and Mustafa Imad Ali Qassem, Nouruddin Marshoud, 15, and Majdi Ararawi, 17.
Ararawi was one of six Tawjihi students killed by Israeli troops. His family received his impressive grade of 90.4% with agony and mourned over his grave on the results day.
On July 21, Mohammed Al-Bayed, 17, was killed by Israeli troops in Umm Safa village, northwest of Ramallah. He was struck in the head by live ammunition fired by Israeli forces.
According to Defense of Children International-Palestine data, IOF killed 35 Palestinian children in 2023, including 5 in Gaza, and 13 in Jenin.
This year has been considered one of the bloodiest since 2000, with over 214 Palestinians losing their lives at the hands of Israeli forces.
