DaysofPal- A group of 25 countries, including the United Kingdom, has called on the Israeli occupation to immediately lift the restrictions on humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip, warning of the disastrous consequences of its policies of starvation and forced displacement targeting Palestinian civilians.
In a joint statement issued by the British government, the signatory countries urged an immediate end to the war in Gaza, firmly rejecting any attempt to alter the demographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territories. The statement stressed that forced displacement constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
The statement also condemned the severe delays in the delivery of humanitarian aid and the mounting civilian death toll, including among children, and called on the Israeli occupation to lift its restrictions immediately and allow the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to carry out their work in Gaza.
The countries emphasized that any proposal to relocate Palestinians to so-called “humanitarian cities” is entirely unacceptable, reaffirming their support for mediation efforts by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.
The statement described the killing of over 800 Palestinians while trying to access food aid as horrifying and criticized the current aid distribution model implemented by the Israeli government, calling it destabilizing and a contributor to the deepening humanitarian crisis, which has now reached what the statement termed “unprecedented levels”.
Furthermore, the signatory states reaffirmed their firm rejection of any measures aimed at imposing demographic changes on the ground, warning that the Israeli settlement expansion plan, known as “E1”, constitutes a serious breach of international law and undermines the two-state solution, as it would effectively divide the future Palestinian state.
