During the first half of August, 13 Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli occupation forces, in separate parts of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
The number of Palestinian martyrs killed by Israeli occupation forces since the beginning of the year has risen to 227, including 186 martyrs from the West Bank and Jerusalem, 4 martyrs from the 1948 occupied lands, and 37 martyrs from the Gaza Strip.
The martyrs are distributed chronologically over the months of the year as follows: 36 martyrs in January, 31 in February, 27 in March, 12 in April, 56 in May, 24 in June, 28 martyrs last July, and 13 martyrs until August 15th.
A new report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territory has revealed that the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank and Israel in 2023 has surpassed the total number of fatalities in 2022, which was already the highest since 2005.
2023 has been considered one of the bloodiest since 2000, with over 214 Palestinians losing their lives at the hands of Israeli forces.
