World Reacts to Iranian Missiles on Israel
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

DayofPal-Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles against Israeli important security and military targets in retaliation for its allies, Hamas’ Chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah, late on Tuesday.

The sudden unprecedented Iranian barrage of rockets has swiftly garnered reactions from around the world, with many having condemned it and others having supported it.

The United States has downplayed the significance of Iran’s recent missile strike on Israel, with President Joe Biden and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan both describing the attack as “defeated and ineffective.”

In a statement, Biden emphasized that the US fully supports Israel and has aided in intercepting allegedly most of the missiles launched by Iran.

However, dozens of videos were published on social media platforms, revealing large-scale destruction in Israeli military sites due to the Iranian missile strikes.

The EU Council chief condemned Iran’s attack against Israel and said on X that it “is a threat to regional security. A regional war is in no one’s interest.”

The Spanish government decried Iran’s attack, issuing a new call to all actors, including Israel, to show restraint and avoid escalation.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his country’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

China urged world powers to prevent the situation in the Middle East from worsening following Iran’s attack on Israel, while Saudi Arabia hopes for “de-escalation and dialogue.”

India said it is “deeply concerned” by the rising escalation between Iran and Israel, urging restraint and protection of civilians as Israel prepares to retaliate against Iranian missile barrage.

The UN secretary general, António Guterres, condemned “escalation after escalation” in the region, saying this must stop and called for a ceasefire.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, calls for restraint by all sides against the backdrop of what is happening, condemning any actions that lead to the deaths of civilians.

The Jordanian government says it will not allow the country to become a battleground, claiming it fired back Iranian rockets to protect Jordan and Jordanians.

Hamas movement congratulated “the heroic rocket launch carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran, on large areas of our occupied territories, in response to the occupation’s continuing crimes against the peoples of the region, and in retaliation for the blood of our nation’s heroic martyrs.”

Yemen’s Houthis spokesperson Mohammed Abdulsalam welcomed the Iranian military operation, reassuring thay this shows support for the Palestinians and challenges Israel’s hegemony in the region.

Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee vowed that the US bases in Iraq will be targeted if Washington determined to support Israel in attacking Iran.

Netanyahu has vowed retaliation, saying Iran “will pay” for its actions. “Iran made a big mistake tonight – and it will pay for it,” he said at the outset of a political-security meeting.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, quoted verses from the Quran and seemingly predicted an “imminent divine victory.”

In two separate posts on X, Khamenei said that “righteous people” may have to make sacrifices “but they will not be defeated at the end of the day.”

Tensions between Israel and Iran have soared since Israel launched an assault on Gaza last October 2023.
