Violations Continue as Israeli Settlers Perform Rituals in Al-Aqsa Mosque
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Dozens of extremist Israeli settlers ignited fresh tensions as they stormed the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque early Wednesday morning, accompanied by a heavy guard of Israeli occupation forces, according to the Islamic Waqf Department in occupied Jerusalem.

The incident unfolded when the group of settlers forcibly entered the mosque premises through the Al-Maghariba Gate, taking advantage of the heightened security presence. Once inside, they embarked on provocative tours throughout the courtyards of the holy site. The most contentious act came as they performed Talmudic rituals within the sensitive Bab al-Rahma area, a location of immense significance for Muslims.

In response, the Israeli occupation forces tightened their control over the area, even restricting the entry of Muslim worshipers from Jerusalem and the lands occupied in 1948. These worshipers faced extensive identity checks, and disturbingly, some were even detained at the external gates of the mosque.

Condemnation for these actions poured in swiftly from various quarters, with the Islamic Waqf Department taking a leading role. They decried the Israeli violations and the audacious incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam. The department’s statement also urged the people of Jerusalem to maintain their unwavering commitment to the mosque and to continue advocating for its protection. They stressed the importance of a unified front to counteract the relentless Judaization efforts directed towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque finds itself subjected to these provocations almost daily, barring Fridays and Saturdays. Israeli settlers, often backed by the protection of occupation forces, continue to infringe upon the sanctity of the mosque. This ongoing trend is seen by many as an attempt to exert full control over the religious site and to create a temporal and spatial divide within its premises.

The latest episode serves as a stark reminder of the volatile situation surrounding the holy site. The incident has sparked renewed discussions about the need for a lasting resolution to this deeply rooted conflict, which has implications that stretch far beyond the walls of the mosque itself.
