DaysofPal- The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has warned that famine in Gaza is the direct result of severe restrictions on humanitarian aid, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and repeated attacks on relief operations.
“I have never witnessed such blatant disregard for the protected status of humanitarian workers, facilities, and operations,” Lazzarini said, condemning the systematic targeting of humanitarian efforts.
He stressed that blocking aid is worsening the plight of more than two million people trapped inside the besieged enclave.
According to Lazzarini, continued denial of relief by the Israeli occupation constitutes a “flagrant violation of international law.”
He urged the immediate lifting of restrictions to ensure safe, sustainable, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance.
The Israeli genocidal war on Gaza entered its 708th day on Saturday, with relentless attacks leaving a devastating toll.
Civilian areas, including homes, residential towers, and shelters, remain under heavy bombardment, particularly in Gaza City and the northern part of the Strip.
Humanitarian groups warn that the campaign, coupled with the mass displacement of families toward the south, is deepening one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history.
