UNICEF on Sunday statement expresses grave concern over the intensifying violence in the occupied Palestine, which has resulted in the loss of life and injury of many children.
The UN agency said every child has the right to special protection according to international human rights law, and it is essential that their rights, including their right to life and safety, are always respected.
UNICEF noted that children are still suffering from violence the most.
Since the beginning of the year 2023, seven Palestinian children have been killed, with many more getting wounded or affected by the ongoing cycle of violence.
“As the situation remains very volatile, UNICEF fears that an increasing number of children will suffer.”
UNICEF called on all involved to de-escalate tensions, show the greatest level of restraint, and avoid engaging in acts of violence, particularly against children, as stipulated by international law.
