The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has described the level of destruction across the Gaza Strip as “unfathomable.” The ongoing Israeli war has left houses, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure in ruins, with some 190 UNRWA facilities affected. Tragically, at least 520 displaced Palestinians who were sheltering in these buildings have been killed by Israeli attacks.
UNRWA’s senior communications officer, Louise Wateridge, highlighted the dire situation in southern Gaza’s city of Khan Younis, stating that the few remaining buildings are “hanging by a thread.” In a video post on social media platform X, Wateridge depicted a bleak scene: “Everywhere you look, destruction. Huge craters along rubble-filled roads, little hope for those remaining here.”
The humanitarian crisis continues to escalate, with urgent calls for international aid and intervention to support the beleaguered population of Gaza.
