The United Nations Coordinator for the Middle East peace process Tor Wennesland affirmed on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, that the people of the Gaza Strip “deserve more than just a return to calm.”
Wennesland tweeted, “The people in Gaza have suffered enough, and they deserve more than just a return to calm.”, expressing deep concern about “escalating tensions in and around Gaza.”
He noted that the situation inside the Strip is dire, emphasizing the necessity of “avoiding another conflict that will have grave consequences for all.”
In addition, he clarified that the United Nations is engaging and collaborating with all concerned parties to improve the lives of the people in Gaza, especially the most vulnerable groups.

These demonstrations are a show of solidarity and a means to condemn Israeli violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as to demand the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
The people of Gaza, despite enduring long-standing hardships, remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice and their desire for an end to the blockade that has been imposed on them for over 17 years
