Days of Palestine – Ramallah
The special envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Middle East, Tor Wennesland, called Sunday on the Israeli occupation to stop demolitions and evictions in occupied Palestine.
For her part, the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Lynne Hastings, said in a separate press statement on Saturday that Israel’s rejection of the petition against its (demolition) decision poses the risk of forcible expulsion, which violates the UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
”The exhaustion of all local legal remedies warns that the Palestinian community would be at risk of imminent displacement,” Hastings affirmed.
Hastings also called on the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, to assume his responsibility and pressure the Israeli occupation to stop demolitions and evictions in the Occupied Palestinian Lands.
