The United Nations called Wednesday, September 7, 2023, on Israeli occupation to conduct a thorough investigation into the forced strip naked of five Palestinian women during a raid on a residential building in the city of Hebron.
UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said in a press conference “We will stand against any form of collective punishment.”
Haq went on to say, “The incident involving Israeli female soldiers reportedly compelling five Palestinian women to undergo body searches while they were naked and threatened by dogs must be scrutinized meticulously.”
Israeli human rights organization “Btselem” in the occupied territories published a report yesterday, Tuesday, detailing the incident that occurred on July 10, which affected four women and a girl.
The report is based on the testimonies of the women themselves and has elicited angry responses from official, factional, and union authorities.
The incident has raised concerns about human rights violations and the treatment of Palestinian women by Israeli forces, prompting international organizations to call for a transparent investigation and accountability for those responsible for the abuses.
Hebron is currently one of the main sites for Israeli military raids, as around 500 illegal Israeli settlers and thousands of Israeli troops are based in the city’s old town.
